: a crystalline phenolic base HOC9H6N that is used in analysis to form insoluble chelated compounds with ions of metals (as iron, aluminum, titanium, bismuth, zinc) and especially in the form of its yellow crystalline sulfate in medicine as an antiseptic; 8-hydroxyquinoline
